Hospitality Matters
Could you offer tea and coffee during class? A slice of cake or hot meal afterwards? The time after the lesson often leads to the most meaningful conversations. That’s when you’ll hear their stories and share yours.
Share the love of Christ with your community by offering Free English Classes at your church.
To serve people and introduce them to Jesus.
Free English Classes are a practical and powerful way for your church to love your neighbours. As you welcome people learning English into your building and your lives, you create opportunities for friendship, community and gospel conversations.
The need is great.
According to the 2021 Census, over 1 million people in England and Wales struggle with the English language:
say they cannot speak English well
cannot speak English at all
In every city, town, and village, there are people looking for connection and help with language learning. Churches around the world have long responded through small, relational English classes — many as part of their social action and outreach.
FEC offers a trusted, easy-to-run model for doing the same. We help churches run weekly classes in small groups where students learn English, make new friends, and hear the gospel. It's a clear and simple pathway into church life.

“And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
Romans 10:14
FEC began in 2018 at All Souls Langham Place.
Our vision was to create:
Our flagship class in Marylebone is now among the highest-rated English classes in London on Google Maps. On Meetup, we’ve welcomed 9,000+ members and earned over 1,000 reviews averaging 4.7 stars.
We provide everything you need to run a class, including weekly worksheets at basic and intermediate level
Each worksheet includes a final ‘Gospel Linking’ page. This isn’t part of the class itself, but helps volunteers connect the topic to a gospel theme, using questions and Scripture references.
Example worksheets:
We don’t just give you worksheets—we help you run a successful ministry. Churches in the FEC network receive:
Everything you need to start welcoming students and sharing Jesus.
You don’t need a big team or expensive equipment. All you need is a place to meet (church hall, café, sanctuary, or sports centre), a colour printer with double-sided capability and a few servant-hearted volunteers.

Your Team
You’ll need 2–3 volunteers who can speak English confidently and love people. No formal training is needed, just a heart to serve. We also encourage a hospitality team to handle setup, welcome, and connect with guests after class ends.
Most Importantly: Pray
Prayer is your greatest resource. Start praying now! For your team, your students, and that Jesus would be glorified in every conversation.
Whether you’re just curious, already running a class, or hosting international cafés or conversation groups — we’d love to support you.
